According to The New York Times, in the late 1800’s, people started using the word sneakers because the rubber sole allowed you to “sneak” around without making a sound.

In the late 10th century, men who rode horses needed their boots to have heels in order to stay in their stirrups. (Ever wonder why cowboy boots have heels?) And since owning horses was a sign of wealth, heels became a signifier of aristocracy and high social standing, not gender.

The red sole on Louboutins are inspired by an Andy Warhol drawing. The most expensive pair sold for $660,000 US Dollars. They were the Ruby Slippers, worn by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz.

Shoe Brand

Every shoe brand has its own meaning or symbolism. Some brands symbolize an NBA player or how long a player has been playing. For Example, Jordan is a shoe brand, and it symbolizes the legend of Micheal Jordan and his great plays, and his long history of playing for the Chicago Bulls. Most people do not go for the symbolism, they go for the color or the style, maybe even the shape or form. I personally go for the style, if I feel like a shoe doesn’t suit me, why would I buy it.
